ternary simply means base 3. So in a switch it could be a switch that has three states. Its used in computer programming a fair bit,but actually when I think about it a ternary expression is simply two binary states. Even the window lift switch is actually binary in that it has two on states and a shared off state. so their is an on state for up, an on state for down and off for up and off for down. Like I said, all switches are binary.
In any event I was mistaken because we were talking about locks and they are definitely binary, locked and unlocked, their is no variations on the amount of how locked it is.
Wake up all those that are now snoring!!!!
