    Tracing car registrations.

Does anyone know if there is any way to trace a vehicle owner by a car registration?

My Stag previously had the reg: 2473 TR on it, and I wondered if the present user of this reg was a previous owner.

I found this on DVLA :

    It's on a Ford ?

    The enquiry is complete
The vehicle details for 2473 TR are:

    Date of Liability 01 03 2012
    Date of First Registration 17 01 1997
    Year of Manufacture 1997
    Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1597CC
    CO2 Emissions Not Available
    Fuel Type Petrol
    Export Marker Not Applicable
    Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
    Vehicle Colour BLUE
    Vehicle Type Approval
Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle
    6 Months Rate £118.25
    12 Months Rate £215.00

    Cheers

      It is certainly a Ford

It's a Ford Escort Ghia Cabriolet 1.6 Auto.

How you find the owner is another matter....
Bereft of a Triumph of any description.

With this form: http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum.../dg_065303.pdf you're supposed to be able to trace a vehicle owner at a certain date.

It's primarily intended for finding the owner of a car after an accident but it might be worth a try to see if they'd give you the info you're after.

        Cheers

I should imagine any car parts web site where you just type in a reg no such as euro parts!

MyCarCheck App works. See Aerosilvers post on the Android Apps thread.

I work in the motor trade...

But Ian is correct. Most car part suppliers use a form of VRM (vehicle registration mark) look-up.

                Regards

                  Cheers, Peter.
I just had a look on Eurocarparts and Kwikfit, as you say it is a 96 Escort.
I don't really want to go through the Dvla for more info, I will have to hope someone recognises the reg.

As I said, it may not work, but the cost of the enquiry is only £2.50

                    Cheers

The dodgy car clamping companies use it all the time. The DVLA (screw them) make a fortune out of divulging our personal details.
