Thank you gents, much appreciated, and all replies have been noted. At the moment I don't have a time scale, still waiting for the insurance to pay up, but that's now in the hands of the solicitor, but hope it will be sorted by the end of the year at the latest.

I had a 71 Saab, with the Triumph 4 in it, took it to see the Saab bod who was local, told me watch these camchains snap, and sure enough 1 mile from home on the way back it snapped, and yes the head was stuck solid!

As for the jibes I'm used to it, I own a Rover, so have heard it all.

Ideally, I'd like one that is pre 73, it keeps the powers that be happy, that I don't have to tax another car, and one that isn't white. I'm hoping to budget around £6000 give or take for the right car, but I'm still not fully made up on what to buy, the Stag appeals for being a 4 seater convertible, nothing else readily springs to mind that is, and I don't want anything modern, already got that.

I do my own maintanance, so not bothered about getting my hands dirty, but good to know there is a good spares back up still.

I shall carry on trawling the net for info and examples, and who knows, may just find the perfect car and become a full member.
