Had to happen....stripped a thread in the swing arm when reattaching new Nissan driveshaft. Can anyone give me the correct helicoil size please? Looks like I can do it with everything in situ...would I be correct?

Tim you could always do it with 5/16" unc (same as the thermostat housing)which I think you all ready have and if not I have, and get different studs,they would hold better in Ali

Hi Tim, I am in the middle of fitting datsun half shafts to mine at the moment and have the problem you have encountered on my mind as I start to reassemble the
parts. I think the manual says 14ft/lbs torque and both my torque wrenches start at 20, so I am not sure how you torque those nuts up to such a small amount. Maybe there are torque wrenches that will go that low? Spin

Yep! Torque wrenches for motorbikes go UP to about that figure!

I'd suggest you helicoil the trailing arms anyway, I did mine 5/16 UNF as I already had acccess to the kit, but I'd suggest if you are starting from scratch to use 5/16 UNC and change the studs. With all the power your car has I'd go to the belt and braces approach.
