What's the correct procedure for removing the mounts?

Do I undo the 4 bolts(SH605051) that hold the bracket 150274 to the engine first?

Can't see how else to get to the 2 nuts on the mount itself:?

I understand from Bob that you need a small boy. I think that he was referring to changing the mounts.

Notice all the photos show them with the engine removed? "That's a hint son, I said .. a Hint!"

Procedure is detailed in the ROM 12.45.01 for the Left, 12.45.03 for the right. Another good opportunity to justify purchasing or borrowing a lift.
Yes you basically start by jacking the engine, remove the 4 bolts bracket to block, two bolts bracket to frame, fish out the assembly.
Right side is worse because you do not have clearance with the steering hoses and oil filter in place.
Lets see if this attaches ...

              Thanks Glenn

No room for a lift,so I'll have to make do with ramps and axle stands etc.

We'll have to see how access is with tubular manifolds fitted and spin-on filter.

I'll do the 'easier' left one first and take it from there.

I notice that Peter at LDparts only sells right hand mounts as the left hand 'voided' ones are unavailable. His website says drill your own holes if desired, any thoughts or experiences on this?

Well the tubulars are not going to help with the availibility of working room.

On the "voided" mounts, I never really understood that purpose. It must be to allow the torque side to give a bit more and not separate the rubber from the metal. I see no reason why you should not be able to use a solid type rubber mount - mainly becaues that is your only option these days.

Drilling the mount to add the void? I would recommend against it

Thanks again Glenn, I wasn't planning on drilling the mount, just wanted to know more, below is the text from Peter's website.

Right hand side Engine mounting with no slot. This is also 155003.
The left side mounting should have a slot but this mounting with no slot can be used on both sides.
If you would like to create a slot with a drill press we can supply a drawing. We cannot obtain stocks of the slotted mount Part number 154994.

We have it on good anecdotal authority that whilst there is no official bulletin the Rover factory advised the drilling of slots to improve vibration on Rover SD1 Cars still under warranty.

These mountings are fitted to our own car and are fine.
