Have recently fitted an Oil Pressure Gauge and have noticed that it shows "white" light instead of green. I am guessing it is a coloured film that turns it green? Is it easy to change the film inside and could I possibly use the film from the clock.

I have an old TIM oil pressure guage and temperature guage installed 20 years ago, I recently replaced the 12v 3w bulbs with 12v 4w green LED bulbs. These now give a pefect green flow, they can't be dimmed however. If you get the bulb out of your guage there are several bulb websites that can help you find an alternative.
not as I'me tight of course, but I have on occasion in the past coloured bulbs by a light (no pun honest) application of spray paint and it works well and costs very little.

I'm nearing the end of a full restoration at present and have a scattering of conventional white bulbs in the instrumentation, particularly where the green film has shrunk away or a guage been replaced. As I'm tight also, I'm going to try a green permanent marker on these bulbs before I buy LED's. I gather they have to be imported from the US and I ain't ready for the hassle with that quite yet - I'd be bound to order something that was wrong. Is there not an enterprising supplier out there who could carry a stock and be able to say "This bulb will fit that, and those will fit there.."?
Hi all, the Speedo / tacho screw bulbs come from the States, > autolumination.com < I've bought from them and they're quick and reliable, the others are on ebay. BA9S (bayonet) or E10 (screw) Make certain you get the multi-LED bulbs, the singles are like a spotlight and are useless in instruments. The difference is extraordinary, and they come in green. The brightest bulb is a green bulb through a green lens, white bulbs are very pale. Just Google l.e.d. and the number. Martin.
