auto gearbox noise

i am getting a noise from the auto gearbox that sounds like something is being driven inside the auto box, the sound coming from the box is the same in all gears . i have changed the fluid which was very clean but it is still making the noise, also it is taking longer to change gear aroung 4500 rpm before it changes into top gear,
any help very welcome

I don't think it will cure the noise but slaken off or even discconect the K/down cable and see what it chages like, it might be over adjusted.

kickdown cable increase pressure inside box to hold gears longer. you won't do any harm by disconnecting it at the carb end and see what happens. Bear in mind though that it won't kick down

My auto box used to hang onto gears and I found that the gearbox breather had been deliberately blocked. It runs from the tail of the autobox, along the transmission tunnel up and around the brake servo. check it is not blocked.

I had a BW35 which became generally noisy even at idle in neutral.

It was the oil pump, which I couldnt easily find new.

This was one of the nails in the coffin that led me to fit zf4spd.

mine also died at the hands of a noisy pump, I went Man o/d instead
