    waiting on Garage..

I'm a bit bored right now, Stag is at the local garage having the bushes at the front poly'd (the ones I could not get out anyway) new track rod ends, front wheel bearing and possibly the rear too, then hopefully MOT'd... just waiting on the call to go andpick her up...

I am hoping the upgrades will solve my pulling away vibrations as it happens when I pull away then dissipates around 30, it just feels like a bad bush problem. The first couple of bushes I changed made a noticeable difference so I am hoping as the rest were of the same age things will improve.

my other vibration is at 75+ which has to be the propshaft but thats for another time as I rarely get up to those speeds officer

Rear bearings not really a local garage job. Special tools needed to split the hubs and special methods required for rebuild. Better to get these exchange from a known reputable supplier.

I had my rear bearings done recently, but the "special tool" just wouldn't cut the mustard apparently. Eventually the garage resorted to a standard press jig - it took 88 tons to get the hub off, and that, unsurprisingly, distorted the hub slightly. If the rear bearings need doing, get a replacement hub and save the hassle.

Shes back with a new MOT, the vibrations are again better but can still feel them, maybe its just me being fussy.

The rear apparently they were able to tighten ? they mentioned they were ajustable ? so thats all sorted, don't know how much its cost me yet as when I went to pick her they hadn't done the bill yet

also the propshaft vibration is fine until 75 when it starts to appaear, then it peeks at 90, gone at 100+

so that is next on the list of jobs, anyone got a ball park figure for balancing of prop ?

            cheers

I have a bad vibration on mine that I tried and failed to cure, I replaced the propshaft u/j's and had it balanced. This changed the speed it camein at, but actually made the vibration worse. I'm fairly convinced it is due to wear in the tailshaft housing bush in the BW35 gearbox. If yours is any other box then it obviously isn't that.

I don't remember being charged much for propshaft balancing, wimborne motors did it for me while I waited. Had to take the shaft off the car myself obviously.

ZF conversion is the answer, when I'm in the money.

i reckon you could get quite a bit for your dog, it must be in the g'book o'records, with a nose that big!!that would pay for the conversion and buy a lollipop for the kids.
