If some idiot inadvertently overfills an autobox to the point where oil is now seen underneath the box after a run, what does that mean? is it doing damage to seals etc. or can I leave it?

Del, that's the breather tube Mate. normally it will come back up the filler tube first as it's lower. it's a common fault, mine has done it before. it's failure of the converter drain back valve I believe.

I thought if you overfill it,just finds it's own level by throwing the excess on the floor.

Hmm - i suspected as much. I've never been very good at draining a little out of an engine/ gearbox and it always ends up on top of me - but will have a go. ThanksComment
