Electronic speedo

When i have fitted my BMW Diff and Rover engine i was thinking of using the speedo sensor on the back of the diff instead of adapting the drive from the LT77 gearbox to run the speedo.Would it be a case of just having the speedo converted or would i need some sort of control unit as well?

Reason for this would be if i swap diff ratio's as there are at least 5 ratios to chose from the speedo would remain constant .once you have the diff cage fitted you can pick diffs up for peanuts so i might swap from one to another to get the best one for my setup.

I was talking to a guy at the N.E.C. last year that converts speedos to electronic like you want. you give them all the details including tyre size and they set it up accordingly, Not a bad price either I think about £150. I will try and dig out his details for you.

Steve, have a look at speedy cables, they do control unit that you programme yourself, based on tyre size, diff ratio etc.

My Father has bought the speedo and had one time clock swapped to quartz and anothertime clock just cleaned.....£389!
