Ardingly Vintage and Classic Vehicle Show 9/10 July 2011

Just wondered if anyone was planning to go to the Ardingly show. It looks as though you can just turn up on the day with a classic car. Details http://www.ardinglyvcvshow.org.uk/fo...ics%202011.pdf

Hi John, I know but I will probably only go one of the days. I was just trying to find out if any other SOC members might be attending so I don't feel lonely, lol.

        Hi Simon,

We in West Sussex have a stand there which has been pre-booked. Some of our members who didn't put their names down on the list, now want to go and will pay on the day (Sunday) and hopefully be able to filter their way through to park with us.
Look forward to meeting you again.

I would have liked to go to that but three things put me off.

First it says that to show your car you have to have £2m Public Liability - is that part of a normal insurance policy?

Second is that it's one of those events where, once you are in, you CAN'T leave until a certain time.

Third is probably less important, but is the cost of entry at £10.

Maybe I am missing the point but why, as a person bringing a classic car, should you have to pay? Your vehicle along with all the others is why Joe Public goes to the event and why it makes money. I also can't bear the idea of being told when I can leave an event that I am paying to go into.

The whole approach seems really old fashioned to me.

Sadly this isn't old fashioned; more of a modern theme. The insurance is why any event being attended as a SOC event must be notified through the Area Coordinator. The club carries this insurance.
As for not being allowed to leave: just declare a "family emergency" or something similar. They can't hold you hostage!!!
Paying to enter is a contentious issue but sadly almost universal these days. Very few free entries any more.

              Cheers Dave.

I hadn't thought of the Club's insurance but I do still prefer the ones like Popham which is free and a fair size.

                Ian,
When I applied for tickets originally as a club, they were free. If you want to come next year, let me know and I will add your name to the form.
