    BosScreen or Rimmer Wind Deflector

    Hi all

Looking forward to the cooler days (ie the Great British Summer!) and considering getting a wind deflector.

Anyone got any views on the relative merits of the BosScreen or Rimmer's alternative?

    Thanks

    Gord

    Hello Gord,

Have you done a search on this? The wind-breaker topic has been discussed a lot here lately including things like Audi ones and home-made ones.

      Hi Gord

Ive gor a mesh wind breaker from the forum group buy last year, and it is great. Really cuts the wind down in the front, but still let's air move around when it is hot. I've heard the solid Boscreen type can be a bit restrictive to air movement.
The mesh one I have can remain in place and still put the soft top up and down, but this seems to vary from car to car.
Mesh windbreakers are a cheaper as well!!

      Hope this helps

        Hi Gord,

i put a thread on with the one i bought with pictures when i had fitted it, also has the link to the place in Germany who make them, really pleased with it and its the best investment i have made so far, 34 pounds from flea bay, mesh type. SWMBO has pined a piece of black ambla on at the moment ready for stiching so as i will have a cover for the back seats

I'm slightly puzzled by the concept of buying a convertable when you don't like the wind in your hair - if SWMBO has a problem, buy her a scarf or leave the hood up - strange - can anyone explain ? I used to drive my brother's MGA with aeroscreens folded down - loved it ! Martin.

            Hi Ian

yes, I have dipped into various threads over the past few months and have heard about teh mesh and Audi versions. Someone once said that an Audi one was a perfect fir for the Stag, but I can't find that post to know whcih one.

I guess I prefer the idea of a clear screen behind me than a mesh, but prepared to be converted if the guys on here say that rear mirror view is still OK

Thanks for the suggestion in any case.

it means i can drive it on cold days and keep SWMBO warm with the top down

Rear view is fine and actually helps to stop the glare from headlights at night.

                  Cheers....Al

I can only comment on the Rimmer's screen. Yes you do get reflections at night. It is fixed by the two locking handles behind the B posts, they kept working loose so I fitted locking pins. The screen is not held to the T bar like the Boscreen, so it tended to flap at high speed, I fitted Velcro straps to secure.

                    John.

The Audi A4 one fits pretty much perfectly to the vertical part although the horizontal bit isn't quite right. I made up a fill in piece and covered it but I'm not entirely happy with the end result and may try a different way.

                      Cheers

I bought one of these, http://www.breezebreaker.co.uk/ well worth the money IMO and can be left in place with the hood up.

I have got one of the breezebreakers as well and I am very happy with it. They are normally only supplied with a black Tonneau cover, but if you supply the material he will make up one to match your interior. (No change in the price though).

                              Hi Gord,
I've got the BosScreen one; and it's very good.
However, don't expect it to completely stop the wind around the cabin - 'cos it won't.
But, you can leave it up and put the hood up, just remember to turn the locking handles inwards, or it will foul the hood mechanism and possibly crack the clear plastic. Well it did on my old one - I then replaced the plastic with some from a friend.
                              Cheers,
                              Frank
