Hi all,
New to this forum
I bought a '72 stag manual with o/d in '98 and ran it for a few years as my first car before (i think) the big end bearings went. It came off the road and has lived at my parents under a tarpaulin for the past 10 years as I moved with work and I didn't have the space or finances for it.
I had waxoyled the chassis before laying it up and am hoping that there is still some of the bodywork left!!
Now that I am in a position to consider getting it back on the road does anybody have guideline costs for: bodywork (assuming it will need at least two wings ) repairs, respray and engine rebuild?
Now I know that question is similar to "how long is a piece of string" but I've seen some estimates for resprays for £3K and some for twice or more than that with no bodywork repairs required and I just want to get to ball-park figures so that I can work the finances out- This will never be a concourse car but I want to get it back on the road: 1. for the family to enjoy in the summers and 2. to justify my father putting up with it on his drive for the past 10 years!!
Also are there any recommendations for people to use in the Suffolk/Cambridge area?
cheers
Andrew
