Viscous coupling

Drove my Stag for the 1st time in about 6 wks and developed a mechanical /bearing failure type noise (intermittent). When I got home 1st thing I checked was the viscous coupling, Sh-t theres play!!!. Only fitted this coupling in Febuary'ish (supplied by Rimmers)and has done approx 55 miles.

I hear of quite a few early failures of 'newly'supplied couplings, "what's going on"???. I take it most suppliers get their goods from the same sources? or is there a more reliable supplier out there?:X:X:?

I had one from Rimmers fail after a few hundred miles in Nov/Dec. All of their parts have a 12 month warrantee so they will exchange it ok. (Still a pain to have to pull the rad out again though).

To be fair, I don't think this is a Rimmers specific issue I was chatting to the guys at Favershams and was told a story about a guy who had several go in sucession! He ended up with a second hand original in the end.

My warrantee replacement from Rimmers has 700-800 miles on it and is fine so far. It just seems a bit hit and miss as to wherther or not you get an ok one:?

I agree it's not the fault of Rimmers who really do a good service and I'll contact them monday.

SNAP!! Exactly the same problem:X, got mine back together now with the help of Dave(Djt) found the spigot under wrapping in the bottom of the box,(phew! nearly thrown away). My stag was bought with no warranty but it stated it had a new coupling on, so phoned the seller who in turn got in touch with the supplier(James Paddock), after a phone call to them ireturned the old one, Sent it thursday morning and got the new one today, What a service, so not only are there good stag owners around there's some good suppliers. Thanks to James Paddock and all concerned. p.s Waiting for a fine day so i can take her out and hopefully got rid of the annoying noise. Cheers Baz
