    Try again

    Hi,
this is about the 5th attempt to post a message, hope it works this time.

I started with a Vitresse about 15 years ago, took about 3 1/2 yeaars to restore during which time I learnt to weld, spray etc. Then I bought my 1st Stag.

When I started his took about 3 years to do, engine only lasted for 250 miles, but in meantime I had bought an abandoned project, this came with a Rover 3500 unit, so as a temporary I put this in. During this time I bought a pair of recon heads, (whoever rebuilt them put the left cam onto the right head etc), but found out so no damage done. Put Stag engine but will not start due to low compression. Will be back to thie engine in a few weeks time.

2nd Stag. Some time ago I decided to put a 2500 engine in. Bought two cheap units. Mixed & matched to get what I wanted. Had a few problems nothing serious, but would like some advice about what exhaust to use. I have a 2500 downpipe, but should I adapt the 2500 system, or use the Stag system from the silencers & have an adaptor made to join onto the 2500 downpipe. I have sent two emails to two different exhaust firms about three weeks but have had no reply from them. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you. Clive.

    Welcome Clive.
I'm sure someone better qualified will respond but I would try to get some joints made so that you can keep the good looking Stag twin pipes.

    Cheers Johny

Hi Clive and welcome to the forum. If you can weld I would make up an adaptor yourself to keep most of the stag system.Cheers Steve

          Hi Steve,

i can weld mild steel but never tried stainless steel, might get some Argon gas & s/s wire & try myself. Thanks. Clive.

If you can weld m/s then welding s/s should be no problem; you should use an argon or argon/co2 mix for your gas. I now use 'Argolight' for everything.

Me too. But I took the St/st stuff to work and TIG'd it! Cheating I know but its easier (for me)
