    Front brake calipers

    im about to overhaul the front brake calipers

    1/ the two bolts that hold the two halves of the caliper together should i use thread lock or just grease the thread ( new bolts used )
    2/ whats the best way of getting the pistons out

    1/ A spot of Locktite can't hurt (belt & braces) 2/ Compressed air (carefully)

        An electric tyre pump may be enough to get a piston out, or it's worth trying a foot pump. Martin.

          thanks im held up at the moment ld are out of stock of the overhaul kits
          and calipers are in the engineering shop

            2/ Oil from a small hand oil can does the trick if you can get a good seal ,I use some silicon hose over the can's spout and over the thread of the flexi pipe on the caliper.Then pump away and watch it come safely out.

                I think he's split the caliper but if he has'nt that will only push out one piston won't it

                      Push one out refurb the seals replace it hold it back with a small clamp push the second one out refurb that,well thats how i did mine.Didn't need to split the caliper.
