I don't think this engine would fit in a Stag...

Had a great weekend at the Cholmondely Pageant of Power with some lovely Stags on our stand, but yesterday it was certainly wet! The picture is 'Brutus' which came over from Auto & Technik Musuem Sinsheim in Germany. It is a 1907 chassis and has a 47 litre V12 BMW areo engine of similar vintage, it made a great sight being driven round the track. The red one is a Bentley chassis with a Napier W12 aero engine - only 24 litre this one!

Not a Zeppelin engine, it had been in some kind of Focke Wulf I think they said. This one has actually been used in an aircraft and apparently some planes had four of them.

Can only think that this must be the famous BMW V1 Engine, used in legendary aircraft like the Dornier Wal and the Heinkel 70. Can't think of any 4-engined aircraft using it off hand nor a series model Focke-Wulf. Must Google it, but I think it mostly featured in Dorniers.

BTW, Sinsheim is definitely worth a visit for anyone passing. Near to Hockenheim too and Speyer is ok for a stroll and a coffee!

              Hello,

The museum in Speyer had a "Bratzeltag" (displaying anything that is loud: old planes, vars, bikes...) earlier this summer. THere they raced this Brutus on the airfield. It was challenged by an old Maybach race car. Unbelievable impression when both cars raced up and down.

              Kind regards,
              Dieter.

Took stag and caravan down to that show 620 miles round trip. was well worth the effort . Was billed as the goodwood of the north and there was plenty to do and see. Its one to watch out for next year.
Its not just cars but bikes , helicopters , aircraft , boats , tanks . Flag waving at the classical concert on sat night didnt do it for me but it was good .

For those of us 'sarf' of Watford, there will be several of these type of aero engined cars at Wings and Wheels, on 28th 29th August (this is the Top Gear location). You will be able to get close and intimate in the paddock before/after their runs down the runway. The demo runs also include some other interesting and exotic historic motors. www.wingsandwheels.net

                      Hello,
Does this mean you drove down to Speyer in your Stag? Did you see my white Stag in the museum car park?
                      Kind regards,
                      Dieter.
