I am experiencing a problem with my right carburettor, as it is using so much oil. I need to fill up practically every time I use the car. Does anyone have a cure for this, or do I need to replace the carburettor?

Good morning, and welcome to the forum. The cure is a simple one, at the top of the brass plug that holds the needle, there is a rubber "O" ring, these get old and hard and let the oil past. Take the piston out, remove the grub screw, and wind the needle out with the adjusting tool, then you need to tap the brass holder up the tube till it pops out the top, there is a locking washer, called a sprag washer which holds the brass bit in position, this comes out first and you may lose it. You can now see the "O" ring. The rings and washers are readily available, when built up, of course the carbs will need re-tuning. Good luck, Martin.

Same here Ian, I'm surprised I was the first, perhaps if I learn to use two fingers.

I need to do this too. On mine it's the left hand carb with a thirst. I follow what is needed to replace the O ring but "you will need to set the carbs up again (mixtures & check balance)" is little more concerning. I have visions of a non-starter afterwards. Can it be done with just thumbs?
