No first hand knowlege of them, but for as long as I have been reading Practical Classic (and others) they have been advertising Stags. I read an article only about 2 weeks ago about them in a magazine and it was typical of a marque "specialist" - "we reject 9 out of 10 cars we are offered" etc. You will no doubt get a good 'un there, but it will cost. Interestingly, when I first fancied a Stag about 6 years ago, I contacted them via their website, but never did get a reply, despite a reminder. I bought my Stag last April, but this time preferred to go private and buy from someone who knew his car well. I was recommended by a SOC member I met by chance to check the club "for sales", so I did and that's how I got mine. It was not advertised anywhere else. However, if I had been in their area, I certainly would have gone and had a look at what was on offer.

Got any pics of your car please? I like the color combo.
I bought mine from Cherished Classic Cars about three months ago. The guy is very knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for Stags. I'll be honest and tell you that not long after the car was delivered (yes he delivered it on a flat bed truck to me in Reading) there was a problem with the radiator which resulted in a blown head gasket. Quick phone call, prepared for a battle, but was met with profuse apologies and embarrassment that there was a problem with the car. The flat bed was sent back down, car collected and head gasket problem rectified at no cost to me (he did both for good measure). A week later and the car developed a misfire. Another call, prepared myself for a battle, but met with even more profuse apologies and embarrassment. Down came the flat bed again. Turned out the problem was linked to a faulty chopper in the electronic ignition. Again he rectified the problem free of charge, oh and fitted a new steering rack because he thought it looked a bit leaky.
Now, you could take one of two opinions: 1) P*ssed that the car had a few teething problems which you wouldn't expect when paying a little over £10k or 2) the problems where just bad luck and the guy could not have been more accommodating in putting things right. I go with the latter; his after-sales service could not be faulted. He's even emailed me several times to ask how the car is going!
Today the car runs like a sewing machine and is everything I wanted from Stag ownership. Are there a few things that could be improved upon? Of course there are, its a 38 year old car and not a concourse hopeful. Part of the fun for me is tinkering with those few things anyway.
Long way of saying 'I've had good experience of Cherished Classic Cars and would recommend them'.
FWIW, some pictures of my car attached (I hope).
Good luck and enjoy your Stag, wherever you buy it from.
Is this mate local Ian? Could we end up with a third Stag on the block?
Bob.
That would be good wouldn't it"..... but he is in Milton Keynes. He sold his M3 a while back and has a hankering for another toy and is contemplating a Stag or maybe a TVR.
Got mine from Lee at Cherished as well, went the dealer rout as I wanted to drive a car rather than tinker (I know enough about mechanical things to be dangerous).
Bought her in 2006, have taken her to LeMans every year, round trip of 1000 miles and usually totals 3-4K miles a year.
So far had two fuel pumps(!), one battery and an alternator - don't think that is too bad.
She runs fantastically & probably, like most of you, she makes me smile every time she fires up.
We bought our Saffron Stag from here just over a year ago. There were several cars to choose from and they all looked good. We test drove a couple of them and then agreed a price on the early Mk1 (we liked the fact that it was chassis 250 and all original). He had a couple of bits of trim repaired and got a new MOT prior to our collection. The car actually needed new brake drums, shoes and cylinders for the MOT. Also serviced with new carburettor diagphrams...at no extra cost. He fitted a Mk2 radiator etc as agreed (freshly refurbished and a new kenlowe fan) only charging for the actual cost of the fan.
We found him knowledgable and helpful. He's not the cheapest, but you need to be careful buying a Stag. Better to spend a bit more up front than to buy a money pit.
