    Door Lock Adjustment

    Hi all

My 75 Stag if fitted with Mk1 door locks.

    Are the locks adjustable?

I find that to unlock the door requires only the slightest movement of the key where as locking it requires rotation of the key through a full 90deg or more and vice versa on the other door. Surley this isn't correct.

If there is adjustment could someone please explain to me what i need to do.

    cheers
    Sean

Hiya Sean, I wouldn't worry too much about locking the old girl, you can get into most Stags with a tea spoon - or a Stanley knife. Martin.

I seem to remember thats normal for Mk1 locks. So long as they lock does it matter?

I appreciate that, hence imobiliser and removable steering wheel fitted.

Would still like to get the locks right though.

I guess not. The movement is only a hairsbreadth to unlock which can't be right and its one of those little things that bugs me

Understandable. I like the idea of the removable wheel. Martin.

                Hi Sean
Having just been messing with my locks, what I would say is providing you do not need to use unnecessary force to lock/unlock the car your doing well because if you did you run the risk of snapping the flimsy original key.
When you lock the door a bar comes across which stops the process of the mechanism releasing the door, over time everything in this area tends to get a lot of slack in it,I do believe only s/hand locks are available and they could be a whole lot worse than the one you have on your car.
