Triumph Trans AmeriCan 2009 Charity Drive - TTA

    Hi All,
The TTA Spitfire has now been to a few shows, (Stoneleigh and Alexandra Palace Classic Show in London) people have bought some Raffle tickets, and the TTA Stag has been purchased by a pledge drive on the various Triumph email lists.

The group of greasy guys in this photo are enthusiastic members of the Illinois Sports Owners Association and Triumph Stag Club USA.

This Stag will make the trip across North America, traveling over 10,000 miles in three months, then be raffled for charity.

Have a read about our progress, with a few more photos!! http://www.triumphtransamerica.org.uk

      Thanks!
This drive is of course, one Stag with one driver, and fuel will most likely cost between $4 and $5 US a US gallon in 2009. Less than half the UK costs provided the US dollar doesn't turn into Yuan by then. And it will be of course, about 3 months duration.

It is very much encouraged for other Triumphs and LBC's to drive along for any part or all of the journey, additional cars may do so at their own arrangments. I have some feedback from a few folks who are planning on driving at least part of the trip in the last 1/2 all the way to San Luis Obispo, California USA, and I have heard rumors that a few UK folks are wanting to drive the whole route. Time will show who actually gets to drive this epic journey with John.

I anticipate that driving in between the various clubs, John will be escorted by the local enthusiasts midway from the previous club, hosted, then escorted at least midway toward the next club.

At present, we have been in discussion with a few potential fuel sponsors.

I thought I'd bring you all up to date cross the Pond:

John Macartney has now covered about 8000 road miles in the Stag named "Uncle Jack", contacted over 1000 people regarding PTSD, driven with over 500 Triumphs and British Cars, been through over 30 States and Provinces in two countries.

Lots of updates on the TTA Web Site including special songs by the Spinal tappets in Honor of the drive, a 10 minute run on "Tail of the Dragon" on YouTube, and more!

Brilliant Glen. Makes us worrying about a few miles to visit our National Day seem a bit OTT.

Good luck with the rest of the drive.
