Jeff. Go for it, the jetting is known. Breathing issues may not be a problem to you and is being sorted by the "unofficial development team". Mine runs really well and is economical. I am sure the performance is better than the Holley I had.John.

A freind of mine has installed fuel injection on his Stag so I inherited his Webber manifold. He ran his Webber for many years and did not have any problems with it but as he likes to experiment it was "on with the fuel injection".
In the webber coversions that you guys are undertaking have you removed the baffling(don't know what else to call it) from inside the manifold throat ?.

kevins manifold is competelely devoid of any internal baffle or seperation i also run the same manifold with good results.there is a school of thought that says this should not be removed dual plane etc etc but i personaly am very happy with my set up running a holly 390 ,a friend local to me runs a set up as mine complete copy and loves the difference ,ive had excellent results on a rolling road with some slight carb adjustments.the baffle could be removed you could tune it like that and if not happy a simple device could be inserted again to reinstate it without removing manifold.

Alan kindly suggested that the high revs on the RR had blown the exhaust gasket - not as bad as something inside the engine - but probably still as awkward to remedy.Originally posted by Classic49 View PostMy only worry is whether the experience on the rolling road has over-stressed the engine - the right rear seems noisier than before. Alan is collecting the Strombergs at the weekend, so I'll see if his ear is tuned to engine sounds.

Sam, Sorry I missed your post earlier, I've just been re-reading this thread for reasons I won't go into right now, but to answer your question I do everything I possibly can myself. I'm more than happy to lend a hand/moral support wherever I can.Originally posted by notthestigthestag View Posthi kevin, were not far from each other( and was wondering where you normally take your stag for normal maintenance etc do you do the work on your stag yourself or do you use someone local, if you dont mind me asking . sam

this webber conversion thread seem to be going on and on..!!!!!!
since i have been able to use my stag this summer i had russ(the green one)fit my timing chains and sort out a couple of other bits on my car, since this has been done my car is such a pleasure to drive,
he tuned the carbs up(strombergs)and i have not had an ounce of trouble with them,,,!!!!
when at the south london meeting last week,i found out that a pair of reconditioned stromberg are on offer to club members at a great price including club member discount ...therefore if i need and carbs for my car i will be replacing them with the stombergs on offer....
as a lot of you know the stag is a great car and in my opinion i think that they should be kept their originality wherever possibly(no dissrespect to those with different engines/extra cooling header tanks etc)
but this is only my opinion but everybody to there own choices of course
