Crikey - you've tried all that and none of it works?

What on earth are you Potters feeding the birds with?

I am usually advised that if those don't work then a 9" angle grinder is the ONLY solution. Although I think you should find that you need to keep using the rubbing / cutting compound. Mines been suffering from continued water staining (at least that's what I think it is ) and they take many goes to cut out. Good luck

Hi, I've only come across damage that bad on water based paints, is that what you've got ? If the paint is thick enough, you could try 800 grade wet & dry on a block, used wet, then your Farecla & polish. Sounds hairy, but if you're looking at a re-paint it's well worth a shot. Good luck, Martin.

Had the same situation recently on the better half's car. Autosol did the trick (not it's correct use I know), followed by a good polish. Good luck!Andy

You don't notice bird **** on my car. I know it's only primer so I don't have to worry anyway!

If the poop has eaten into the paint, then you've probably had some of the paint solids dissolved by the acids in the droppings, leaving a porous finish that is now filled with wax and oatcake! I feel the best solution is to wet 'n dry the blemish away - right back to the base coat in order to get rid of the polish. Then use panel wipe to clean the area and replace the paint using an aerosol. After several coats and you have the original surface level back, you can smooth back with a used 1200 grit or finer on a rubbing block, using water, then polish out by hand with your farecla polishing compound. If you're not happy with that, then it may be the full-on cost of a panel respray, I'm afraid.

I hope the whisky worked, by the way.

                With best wishes,
                Duncan, Skye

A bit extreme, but technically it's accidental damage so you could claim off your insurance - particularly if a respray is required.

Why hasn't this thread attracted the old "bird **** on my bonnet" joke?

                        Are we slacking on here?

                          Mate,
You think you've got problems! You should see the size of the fruit bats we get around here. When they decide to have a number two the whole car gets covered and what ever they drop eats through paint overnight!
Hope you get your car sorted.
                          regards,
                          Raoul

many years ago and while milling about uncomfortably at a family funeral, a passing bird crapped all over my Aunt Elizabeth's dress.

"Quick somebody get me some toilet paper" she screeched

An aged great aunt renowned for her quick and dry wit responded

"I shouldn't bother, it'll be miles away by now!"

                              Broke the ice?

                              I'll say..
