I notice on the interface between the air box housing & the carb elbows, that the air box backing plate has areas that restrict the flow to the elbows. Has anyone removed this material or is it necessary to avoid something like icing of the carbs?
One for you Martin? I've seen this question before Gavin, try the search option, , you might find the answer there.

I've often wondered about this, 'cos it doesn't look right, but none of the old boys I've spoken to knows why, somebody on here dressed them out and it made no difference, I guess that's the best answer we're going to get. Martin.
Hi Gavin, A change of subject and a question. The alloy wheel centres you have. Did you make them, have them made or are they availble? To me they look very effective.
Cheers Ian A

Is it possible that on the Mk 1 the restriction was put in place to stop air from the trumpets going directly into the carbs and bypassing 50% of the filter. It was then left in place for the MK2.
