    Electric aerial

Has anyone fitted an electric aerial to the rear wing of their Stag? Just wondering if there are any clearance issues that anyone has found. Anyone know the best place to buy an electric aerial? Any advice would be appreciated as I park my Stag in a school car park every day!Following encouragement from members of this forum, I am now driving the Stag every day, covering 170 miles a week!! Thanks!

Maplins do a great aerial for £21 and is a doddle to fit.

Mine is fitted on the n/s wing, and every time I have bought a new boot-board I have had to cut a piece out of it to accomodate the bottom end of the aerial. No great problem.

              Stuart.

I have a similar aerial but I see from your photo that the drain tube appears to discharge into the bottom of rear wing. There should not be a lot of water coming out of it but as yours is kept outside it would be a good idea to extend the tube out of the car. I bought some clear tube from B&Q and led it through a grommet infront of the spare wheel where the fuel pipe feeds through. A hose clip secures it to the aerial.

              John.

                Hi John

Yes you are correct this needs to be done, I only fitted this last week so have been to busy to get some pipe and route it to the drain grommet.

As forRobert's comment about trimming the boot board, I have not done this as it just fit's under the aerial with out the need for trimming.

Thanks for the replies and pictures - they are a great help!I forgot to mention my current aerial is fitted to the o/s wing but the aerial Stuart has looks like it may just squeeze in behind the fuel filler pipe, or is the aerial on the outside of the board? The current one is behind the board, ie hidden. I'll whip the board out tomorrow night and have a look. Luckily I have a Maplins local to whereI live, so could easily pick one up. Thanks again for your trouble chaps!

                    Hi guys

Just wondering if this is an fully or semi auto aerial. As I have a period Sharp radio/cassette fitted which doesn't have an auto aerial output. Iwould like an electric aerial with a rocker control switch on the dash.

                    Regards Andy S

I'd expect any of the automatic electric aerial will be fine for this - just run the powered side of the ariel to your switch.

Mine is automatic and my head unit has a nice feature where the aerial is only powered when the head unit is set to FM - so its only actually up when you are listening to the radio

                        cheers.......Andy

Does the aerial come with the mounting bracket? I can't see any mention of it on the maplins website. I am considering purchasing one as the electric aerial on my car is not working despite having power to it.

                          Regards

                          Bruce

                              Hi Stuart,

what do you put on the Aerial to stop it sticking?
