    Alternate Alloy Wheels

I've been looking at some of the minilight replicas that are for sale everywhere (UK & NZ). None off them seem to have the right offset. It should be 28mm but most seem to around 22mm. Obviously they'll fit but doesn't this screw up the suspension geometry?? Or is this just a theoretical problem?

With a smaller offset, they will sit further out if you like that look. I have driven cars with smaller offset Minilite style wheels and not noticed any disadavantage, if anything they felt better.

I'm not looking for the Boy Racer wide wheel appearance although 15" wheels would give me better tyre availability/price. My concern is upsetting the handling or overstressing suspension components by having the wrong offset.

As I said I have not found the handling to be a problem. As for stress on the axle, I would not worry about a few mm difference in offset.

Hi Nick, I bought some minilite alloys direct from Minilte with the correct offset, it is best to give them a call as they know exactly what is required, they are 15" with the correct offset for the car, although I had to use some spacers on the rear as the writing on the brake drum interfered with the back of the wheel, I use 205/65vr15 tyres and I think the set up is just perfect.
          Good luck
