    Random Speedo

Hi all, back again with another question...

My speedo seems to have a glitch. Most of the time while driving the needle flicks between 0 and 120mph, it only stops after I'ver been cruising at a steady speed for a few minutes, meaning for most of the way I have to guess what speed I'm doing. Not a massive problem but an annoying one!

Is this a common fault. How can I fix it?

    Cheers

First thing I would check is the condition and routing of the speedo cable as this is the main drive to the speedo and may have corroded etc over the years.

If not that then may be look at the speedo itself which is fairly easy just take out and twist the bezel off then your in so to speak. After that check the speedo drive in the gearbox but these don't go wrong that often.

Beg to differ on that point. I've gone through three "new" ones, until I got a used one from ebay, which, touch wood, has been fine. One of the "new" ones exploded (quite literally) 5 miles down the road. I never found all the parts.
