    Hardtop/softtop hood release cable

Hi all, can anyone tell me the correct way to route this cable. My existing cable has been fouled by the thick arm on the softop as it gets folded away and so has an almost 90 degree bend in it near the lever end. Going to fit a new one as existing cable end is frayed and would like to know correct routing before I start.

    Thanks

    Gord

    Hi Gord

I will take a couple of photos for you tomorrow when I get U2 out of the garage to wash all that Norfolk dust off. The GT6 was not very happy about being turfed out upon U2's return! The GT6 is now back outside under its cover.

    Regards

    Bruce

        Hi Bruce

Hope you enjoyed the National and the holiday afterwards.

Thanks for the photos - exactly what I needed. In the first picture, my cable goes the other side of that thicker bar that is attached to the spring and it it has been fouling the cable. Mine has almost no clips either so the hood release cable flops all over the place. I did get some clips from Paddocks so secure all these, but they seem to be the wrong ones. They're the type with a built in spacer like you would use in the insulation pad, so I think I'll need to go back to them again.

        Cheers

          Hey Bruce

In your pictures, I've just noticed the tonneau rubber seal in that channel above the cable. The small gap in the rubber is 'pointing' towards the inside of the car, whereas mine is 'pointing' to the outside!! Mine isn't glued in either. Another job I need to get around to. Do you reckon yours is the right way round?

          Cheers

            Guys
Does anyone know where to get the cable clips from
I havebeen looking and cant find the right size

Got some from Bresco but they were too small to take the cables

Also which is the correct way for the seal to be fitted????????? I'm confused which is correct now, mine looks different to the pics

            Let me know please

The seal in my photos is fitted the correct way around. I know this because Brian Turner fitted it that way when he did my hood and frame in May. Like you I had it the other way around until he kindly pointed out the error of my ways.

I purchased my clips from Paddocks.

              Regards

                Hi Bruce/Sparky

I bought some clips from Paddocks for this last week, but they are not correct. I e-mailed them last night so we'll see what they come back with today. Sparky, will let you know details if I get the right ones.

                  Hi Sparky

I got the following answer from Paddocks this morning. Apparently the cable clips are almost identical to the pipe clips. I've attached a picture of the pipe clip so the cable clip is very similar. The tonneau clip part number is 623313

Here's what Paddocks said when I queried whether I had the right part:

Correct clips = almost identical to fuel clips but a different int size,no spacer = you offer up to hole and belt sharply in with a small hammer the clip collapses in and spreads to hold

Just tried on mine and it works!
