    Main Light Switch; Mk1

For my Mk1 project I am missing the main light switch/wiring loom. I see that the switch has Lucar spade connections so the harness must be separate, but I cannot see it listed on Rimmers. They dont have pictures of most of the harnesses so its not easy to see how it all goes.

My main loom has a connector behind the dash, so I must need to get a harness to connect this to the light switch. Does anyone know how this all goes?

    Confused.

Hi Chris, are you missing the Mk1 switch or the loom ? If it's the switch I can help. Martin

all of the wiring from the steering column runs down the tray there are four wiring harnesses and its tight I used harness tape which pulls the wires togther same as the original stuff they connct into the main harness just under the speaker grill easier if you have the gauge panel out.

            cheers Stuart

              Hi Chris
I think there seems to be a miss-understand in the difference between a Mk1 wiring harness and the Mk 2, basically the Mk1 master lighting switch has two extra positions on the switch, this is so that the off-side side lights (one front and one rear) can be switched on independently of the nearside, this lighting circuit is also linked to a set of contact within the ignition switch to bring on the nearside lights when the car is started up, the other position on the switch is so that the fog/spot lamps (if fitted) can only be switched on with the head and rear lamps. Therefore to change a vehicle to this spec would mean major work, or have I got it wrong?

Ken, I am aware that the Mk1 is different, but only that it has an extra parking lamp position. I would be surpirsed if it is as complex as you suggest but until I look into it I can only accept what you say.

However, I am not trying to modify anything, I simply asked if anyone can confirm that there is a wiring harness that links the switch to the main harness behind the dash (and if so the part number of that harness would be useful as I cannot trace the part on the Rimmers website). Then I can start looking to buy the parts I need.
                Cheers

PS: from the pictures posted it looks like there is such a harness.

                  Chris

Make your own harness to replace the missing bit. A doddle of a job. My Mark 2 has the Mark 1 switch fitted as I wanted the parking light facility.

                  Cheers
