I have just fitted a set of harrington Bumpers to my MK 2.

use all the old ironwork and spacers check the captive nuts in the blade part will take your existing long bolts mine were a different thread and I had to remove the captive nuts. the only problem I had was the the main bumper had solid ends and as the iron bend needs to go into the blade part the solid end had to be cut out and the hole in the blades also needed reshaping. It needed courage to take a hacksaw to a £ 700 set of bumpers. They easily scratch so watch out. the drillings in mine were all spot on and I am pleased with the final result.

    Good luck peter

I have also fitted the Harrington SS ones without too much difficulty. See pic. I did buy the fitting kit from (I think) Wards, which gave me all the new bolts etc. I never came across spacers. Only scary part for me was drilling through brand new and painted rear wing panels ! Achieved successfully by poking the drill through the mounting tubes in the rear wing cavities.

            Hi Folks,

I've just fitted a chrome rear bumper and when I stood back to admire it, I noticed the upper surface leading edge was curving upwards by just over a quarter of an inch. I thought it was just my bumper but when at the National Weekend, I noticed that quite a few cars were like that - some more so, in fact.

So when I got home I loosened off all the bolts, thinking it might have been the mounting irons that were pulling the centre section inwards thus splaying the profile, but that's not the case. It appears that the upper surface of the centre section has a natural upward curve. Perhaps as it left the factory or caused by a slight reversing accident by a PO of the bumper.

Am I right, or is there something else I should be looking at. I'm reluctant to straighten it as I know that chrome can crack and splinter off - or should I just leave it alone.

Mine are straight if you look along the body line, not noticed anything untoward. Pig to take off as the nuts had rusted and had to lose the captive nuts, but went back on ok with new nuts and bolts.

i haveaset from wards ( stainless ) the only problem i had was the main rear blade ,the holes for the two corners pieces were way out of line, and i had to drill more holes , also the front number plate plinth is not a good profile for the bumper blade and the rubber gasket does not fit nice and snug ,

but they still look good ,

ive had a good look at my rear bumper today and made new stainless spacers for the bumper irons, i was going to see if i could retap the captive nuts

but the main thing is the centre blade with solid ends, which will need to be cut, so i can fit the bumper irons ( not looking forward to this )
