    New Tricks

    Hey!
Did anyone see New Tricks last night? I often watch but was busy last night packing to move from Milford Haven to Haverfordwest.
Typical! This morning one of the removal men says "Did you see me on telly last night?"

He played a Hell's Angel called Woody. Wanted for attacking someone with a screwdriver.

Asked him about the Stag but this wasn't around when filming.

Has been in Doctor Who as well. He's a big guy with a red hair and beard.

    Cheers Johny

I watched it, but unfortunately there was no apperance by the main star (Gerry Standing's Stag!) in this episode -no disrespect to your removal man Johny!

I read somewhere that Gerry Standing's Stag was actually Waterman's own car. Anyone know if this is true?

I normally have had so many beers by the time NT is on that I lose the plot half way through and go to bed!

I saw the Stag at ND, but no sign of DW.

Not sure if it was actually owned by Dennis, but the green one used in the early series now lives in Norfolk and has just had a respray - it came to Beaulieu last may for the 40th anniversary thing.

Thanks Wendy, the current series had the green Stag in two weeks ago and three weeks ago, didn't watch it last night so don't know if it appeared. I'm not a great lover of the programme. Just watch it to see and hear the Stag! How sad am I?

                Ah, but which one?

The 'New Tricks Stag' that was at Brands Hatch this year is PWR233P which has been in some series of the programme. The one in the current series is VTU501R, which has been used in earlier series. Are there more?

The first one. Apparently it was in Murphy's law with James nesbitt too.

                    Well the moves over.
Back to a double garage now. Yessssss!
I'll be able to get my Carmine Stag restoration project over from Swansea where it's been sitting under a cover for six months after I sold my last house with double garage.

Also looking forward to completion of Mimosa rebuild being carried out by Stag specialist in Poole.

Sorry I missed this last August.

I can add a bit of history here. I have the PWR233P Stag which was at ND last August (you can see it in the pic in the mag, back to back with the Hart racing Stag). I've had it for a bit over 2 years now: it was in the previous owner's possession when it did some TV stints - it was indeed in the first 2 series of New Tricks, but VTU501R has been in the later series. It had also appeared in an episode of Murphy's law - I have photos from that but have yet to track down the actual appearance. Plus the former owner said it had been in one episode of Midsomer Murders, but again I haven't tracked that one yet.

Last year I had a respray (BRG of course) and various remedial work done. Over last summer the Weslake diff has been overhauled and this year it has had new half shafts (though that was a long story......). The previous owner had the engine rebuilt by Faversham around 2002 (prior to its TV appearances) and it has just had new head gaskets.

Out of the blue a few weeks ago the company that had handled the car previously for TV (TLO) got in touch with me (via the previous owner) and it will now be going off for 6 weeks for another tv drama. More about that when it's all actually happened!

Dennis Waterman never owned the Stag (though he did drive it off set apparently at times, so the previous owner said). Note that there was a different Stag again used in the first pilot episode of New Tricks. PWR however appears from Episode 1 of Series 1. I think the later car VTU501R is actually owned by TLO. The chap from the company said that as PWR was manual but VTU is automatic, the later episodes never show the gear shift - that would require far too much nerdy tv watching to check out though!

It's a great car, huge fun and sounding great. Now if I can just get on top of the oil leaks....

Hi Dylan, I saw a Stag in a 'Midsomer Murders' recently. The guy who owned it was a sculptor and had plans on the schoolmistress next door. It still had Barnaby in it so was obviously a repeat.

Some while ago Cherished Classics had Steve Mcfaddon's (Phil 'whats going on' Mitchell) stag up for sale.It was a nice sapphire blue mk1 on a K-reg.
