    Suspension

    Evening All,

I recently purchased this kit on ebay and had it fitted today by N&P Motors
I thought it was a good deal at the time. I had a call from N&P
telling me the car is ready - but be aware the front is sitting higher at the front than the back
and when you accelerate the front goes up and stays that way, why is this?
It was normal on the car it came off, shall I buy new springs, I have also had new bushes at the front

    Dave

Hi Dave, you dont show a link to the kit you bought? Was it lowered kit? The car will always sit high at the front until it settles but that will happen after a short drive usually.

I had a similar problem. Torque the bushes when car is loaded, supported on the wheels. I also changed the rear springs this made a huge difference. And didn't cost a lot. Mike

Sorry about that the guy selling the kit also had a full set of wheels, the original 15" from faversham classics, almost brand new with P6000 Tyres

            I am in North London.

The shafts are definitely not Datsun but may well be Rilsan coated and should be a good improvement over standard.

I am at a lost what to do. The garage said I should put the old struts back on, as the springs are to long on this new kit, that is why the wheels tuck under the car when you accelerate. they also said they have never seen a stag with 15" wheels, said I will run into trouble, the tyres are 205/65/15

                      what now?

                        Hi Dave,

Plenty of Stags running with 15" wheels (see my avatar for one ). Mine are 196/65, but there are people running with wider without problems. The advantage is a better choice of rubber as 185/80HR14 are not so common any more.

I am not sure what to recommend regarding the struts. It is normal for struts with new bushes to ride high for a short while until they settle. But if these struts have already been fitted and used on another Stag then there is no reason why they shouldn't bolt straight onto yours without problem.

Hi Dave,Sorry to hear about your problem,Firstly if the garage has not seen stags fitted with 15" rims, then i dont know what kind of Stags they deal with,As for the suspension i would contact Ian at MONARCH for his advice,i would be running 195/65/15 up front with that set-up though.

Have to say this site is so hard to use compared to the old place BUT if you want Challenger wheels they are still easy to get BUT order from performance alloys in brisbane and speak to Wayne

If the suspension raises as you move forwards it sounds like the front wheels are toeing in too much. What happens when you reverse? Does it lower again? If it is this the car just needs tracked properly.

I totally agree with everyone re. the setting of bushes etc & as Dave DJT says, if they came off another Stag on which they were OK, then the springs should be already settled.
