Window screech - not Stag related

On my every day car, when the weather is hot, when you lower the drivers window, it always screeches as the glass grips the weather seal. What is the best thing for spraying on that wont leave deposits so I can get rid of this b*oody noise?

    My thoughts so far:-

Would I get silicone off the glass
WD40 would leave and oily smear
House hold sprays would disappear after a rain shower

I do have RainX that I use on the windscreen

I just don't want to look out of my drivers window after doing the job and see numerous vertical lines of whatever afterwards.

    Any advice appreciated

Hi Andrew, use a clay based glass cleaner, like Autoglym, I bet that stops it. Martin.

Clay base....interesting. I wont make the pun about taking pot luck then.

Thank you for this. The only glass cleaner I have is Halfrauds one and is greenish disgusting looking polish.

I do have Autoglym Resin polish that I normally use

      Cheers Martin

        Hi Andrew,

Autoglym Resin polish will do the trick. Excellent for glass, although their Fast Glass cleaner is also very good and will give a much better result on all the glass than the other stuff you mention.

Thanks Dave. I will get a bottle of this then as I can do all cars and a job that is over due.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean FastGlass, the other one, in a smaller non-spray pack, it's thicker and does a much better longer lasting job. Martin

Thanks Martin. Not sure which one you mean, do you have a brand or link?

I have recently bought a BMW E36 328i convertible which does the same so I'll give that a try myself. I have to say however, that I'm very disappointed with the car - very little low down grunt, horrible gear change, no character, disconcerting handling, rattly and squeaky and not a patch on a Stag or my battered old MX5....

Hi Andrew, it's the original AutoGlym window cleaner, a bit dusty in use but much better, once done, FastGlass easily keeps it good. Martin.
