    Headlight flash

    Dear All,

I've recently noticed that I've largely been ignored when flashing my headlights to acknowledge fellow road users but I've since discovered that the headlight flash is not working. I had a quick look at the column switch last night and all appeared in order. All other lights and electrics are working OK. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing the problem?

    Electrical fault..........?

    Sorry, couldn't resist...
The headlamp flash is through fuse #1, which also controls the horn, cigarrette lighter, puddle lamps, console lamps, clock and glovebox lamp. So if they are also out I would look at the fuse.
If those other circuits are working, then it must be the switch. Do the main beam lights (inners) work when main beam is selected with the headlights on?

Sorry Jon, I can't answer your question, but if we could put our cars together we'd get one good one

My headlight flash works but my main beam doesn't - I'll sort it when I get the time

      Cheers

        Hi Jon
I had this on mine just as I was taking it for the MOT I removed the indicator stork ad you will notice that when you pull the stork to flash there is a small set of points that make contact ,if you clean them with some wet/dry you will probably find they will work again
        Hope that makes sense

Thanks chaps, I've just cleaned the contacts as suggested and the flash works......... however I've now lost main beam! The switch makes good contact and both sets of contacts are clean.

All fuses OK, main beam indicator lights when when you flash the headlights.

Sorry Julian but it looks like we're now just a pair of flashers!

At least the dip works - I've found myself driving at night on dip and holding the flash on for quite a while when I need full beam - should I admit to going out at night and flashing?

            Cheers
