would fitting tubular manifolds give a much deeper v8 burble as my dads stag has sports manifolds and sounds like a different car to my stag which has stanadard manifolds

If Dad's car has the larger (MK1) tail pipes, and yours has the smaller (MK2) ones, that will explain the difference in sound. Stainless is invariably thinner, and the sound decays a bit, but as Steve says, it's all good, there's NOTHING like the sound of aV8Martin.
oops - late again.

I replaced my silencers with a pair of straight through ones from MIJ exhausts. It's no louder than standard, but the note is much deeper. Sounds like a larger V8.
They only cost me £80 a pair and are stainless. They are real beauties too. If you want any more info. just let me know.

Mean't to say I'm running the larger bore tailpipes too

Generally I find tubular manifolds give a crisper note rather than a deeper one, but check your fuel mixture and ignition timing as I find if either of these are out it tends to give a more muffled sound to the exhaust, particularly if it is running rich

I have gone from standard manifolds and small bore, to tubulars and large bore exhausts, the note seems to be more deeper than before and slightly louder (if that makes sense) but the added bonus of the tubular manifolds is that the gases escape faster improving engine pformence etc..
Cheers
