Hiya Daz, welcome to the forum. First step is to get hold of the Haynes manual, the section on setting up carbs is a straight lift from the trade publications and very good, it's also cheaper and more readily available than others.
Does the old girl run at the moment ? if not, do you know why ? If she does run, I'm about 35 miles from you and will happily do it for you. Obviously there's no question of a charge. ( that's a given ) Cheers
Martin.

I made the mistake of fidling with the carbs too early when I bought mine. Leave alone for a while and get your head around timing plugs ..etc. The chances are your carbs are fine. make sure all parts are as they should be before adjusting. Then when they balanced at 800rmp they are not at 1500 but are balanced again at 2000. And that's before you tighten every thing up.

If balanced at the correct idle speed, and the rods are set correctly, they remain balanced throughout the entire rev range. Martin.

95% of carb problems are actually electrical.
New plugs, set the point gaps and set your timing before you go anywhere near the fuel side of things.
This applys to any classic car IMVHO.
