Cleaning carb float chambers

Hi all,

My Stag is displaying the symptoms of dirty float chambers / sticking needles. I know it is a basic job to do but I haven't done it for 20 odd years so could someone give me a quick lesson. Do I need to use a specific oil to refill ?

Hi, when i did mine i cleaned all the parts in clean petrol with a toothbrush and cotton buds.

as for the oil i guess you mean dash pots... well no its just engine oil.

The symptoms, fuel coming out the over flow?

Hiya, make sure you have new float chamber gaskets, new needle valves, make certain the float heights are correct. Engine oil is suitable for the dashpots, or you can use something lighter. Enjoy. Martin.

Yes martin good point i would also suggest maybe a few gaskets... i got 2 sets of flot chamber ones just incase..
