Auto Selector.

Had an interesting experience yesterday, I got underneath to adjust the length of the selector rod, I gave it a bit of a wiggle, as is my wont, and the lever dropped through the floor, only the "T" handle was keeping it in the car, shock doesn't really describe it. The rod joins the lever inside a steel cup which is riveted under the gate, the last of four rivets had let go, no sign of the other three at all. While I was stripping out the console Ian (IanI) turned up, and between us, mostly him, we got it fixed, I had some tiny nuts and bolts to replace those nasty rivets. This morning, she started in Park, repeatedly, which was what I was trying to adjust for, fingers firmly crossed. Martin.

Is it easy to adjust the selector cable, lever or whatever it is that determines how the selector aligns up on the "gate" surround in the car?

Normally yes but you have a GM box??, so travel and dentents may be different.

i had a vw transporter van and the gear selector rod broke on the way home ,i use two pieces of wood as a splint and two cable ties got me home

My gear selector was broken exactly like that when I got the basket of bits described as a car! I have now fixed it exactly like that to refit it when it is required! I did get akll fussy and used stainless steel bolts and nyloc nuts.. hopefully it will hang together!
