Back on the job ! Advice wanted on Carburettor plumbing.

Finally got going on the Stag again and moving towards starting the engine in a couple of weeks. Here's a couple of pictures showing the engine bay as now set up, and a close up of Wards Aluminium radiator, which fitted a treat compared to Rimmers four-core one, which would have occupied most of the engine compartment and was fouling the crankshaft pulley.

While on, I desperately need close up shots of the various carburettor "plumbing systems", such as the pipe from the RH rocker cover, the fuel overflows and how they fit to the black plastic adaptors, and the breather system, plus the thermo valve pipe to the manifold (need to take off the air filter housing for that one). Any volunteers ? All advice also gratefully received.

    Richard

Hi Richard, that looks great ! ! ! Love the rad, I've got one. By thermo valve, do you mean the vacuum pipe ?
I'll go and get some pics now. Ten minutes. Martin.

Hiya, you may have to stare, the contrast ain't brilliant, but they show all the carb pipes. the fat blak hose coming forward out of the T goes to the N/S carb breather. Martin.PIPES 003 (600 x 450).jpgPIPES 002 (600 x 450).jpg

Thanks Martin. That'll be a real help. Any others at different angles or without the airbox would also be great from anyone else.

        Thanks to all.

          Hi Richard,

          This may help:

Unlike Martin's picture, on my Stags the overflow pipes have been routed beneath the carbs, not over the top. They join together under the air filter housing and run down the front of the engine. A P-clip secures the vertical pipe to one of the front cover bolts.

The vacuum pipe from the flap valve on the air filter housing inlet goes to the front spigot on the motor under the filter housing. There is a short length of pipe from the rear spigot to the valve on the front of the carb pedestal.

Thanks Dave - very useful. I don't think I've got all the pipes yet - I need to run a checklist. I am also not sure about the "motor" in the thermic sensor system. Any thoughts ? I have the valve on the top section of the filter housing, but just a depression with two holes on the bottom half - I wonder if it's missing from the filter housing I got ?

You seem to be missing part number 520367, which sadly is unobtainable new:

Hi Richard, there should be two stubs sticking out below the motor, the rear one connects to the non-return valve at the front of the pedestal, and the front one to the stub on the upper side of the vacuum motor. Martin.
