Air filter box

Hi all

Does anyone know why the shape of the standard air box (where it joins to the carb elbows)does not fully match the oval shape of the elbows

I wonder if reshaping the air box to match the elbows would improve air flow thus improveing performance

Tony Hart tried and it made no noticeable difference to performance

Did mine recently, but no noticeable difference either.

I would imagine the inlet manifold offers more resistance than anything else in the induction system.

K and N air filter,reshape air box to match elbows and gas flow elbows and inlet manifold perhaps some gains to be had
