    Replacing my steering wheel

    Hi,
Am planning to change to a wooden steering wheel , and wondered if anyone with experiance could advise , is there an accepted stag approach ? Measured the existing wheel which seems to be 14.5 inches in diameter , wooden wheels come in either 14 or 15 inches , what's the percieved wisdom , go larger or smaller ? , am leaning towards the 15 .
Additionally the existing wheel is dished , but I am worried that with the additional boss , it'll come further forward , which I don't want . Should I counter this by going for the flat wheel ?. Any advise or comments appreciated.
    Cheers Steve

Replaced mine with a wooden MotaLita - 14 in and semi-dished. No issues with distance or anything and despite warnings that it would not be as comfortable as the standard or a leather rimmed wheel, I find it fine.

Had mine from a Chester based Stag spoecialist and whilst it did take 2 attempts to get an un-damaged wheel, they were very good in sorting it.

It depends on what you want - but I'd go for it, you can always swop it back.

      Hi Steve
Be careful which boss you use, I failed to find one I was happy with,I found they brought the wheel too close, and the left a gap against the plastic column housing.
I made my own from 10mm plate, screwed it to the original boss and drilled and tapped it to match the steering wheel.

14" Semi Dished Motolita works nicely for me - boss is the Motalita one as well, no probs with the final position of the wheel. Mine is leather rather than wood but i doubt that makes any difference.

I treated myself to the 14" leather bound motalita wheel at the national, already had the 14" wooden version with motalita boss. Wheel position is fine with both wheels being dished. The wooden looks better IMO but the leather one is so much nicer to drive with.

I've got a wooden Mountney with their boss. It's also slightly dished, I think it's the 14" one - it's certainly smaller than the original MkII wheel that was on the car. I like it a lot :-)
