Wiper Switch MK2

I've just stripped the wiper switch as part of my steering column revamp and have found out why the stalk wouldn't click into the intermittent position, a part had fallen out which I have refitted. The intermittent mode however, is towards the driver not towards the facia as it states in the handbook, I also don't seem to have the against the spring "flick" in the opposite direction for a single wipe. Does anyone know if this is the correct functionality for a late MK2 switch?

There is no single wipe Tony, a quick on and off is the best you can look forward to and yes the intermittent wipe is towards you.

Thanks Bob - looks like the driver's handbook is incorrect then.
