Almost looking like a car !

Had another good day today. Oil pressure gauge installed, rubber washers fitted behind bumper mounts (forgotten previously), hood fitted (and a great tribute to VMad - it's stunning). Wipers fitted. Brakes and clutch bled for the second time.

I can see definite signs of life !

Need to get the engine started and then get on with the cockpit and doors.

    Richard

That looks fantastic. When do you think you will be hitting the road? It doesn't look too far off.

Don't be fooled ! There's a fair bit to do, especially the cockpit which is still bare, and the doors. I have however moved forward a lot in the last couple of weeks, and getting the hood on today was really pleasing as I had been dreading it. Next is the dashboard and wiring, which I'm less worried about. I have all my new leather cockpit ready, but it will be almost the last thing to go in. I consistently try to avoid giving myself deadlines (enough of those at work) but will be pleased if I can drive it by say the beginning of May next year. Fingers crossed.

You seem to have progressed at really quite some pace. You started after me and will be finished well before. It's really looking good. As has been said before, I bet your Dad would be proud!

What rubber washers? I must have forgotten them too!

They're not specified anywhere, but various paople have suggested them to me, on the basis that the mountings will otherwise chafe the paintwork quickly through vibration, leading to rust. I just used plumbing washers !

After posting I checked out the Rimmer parts diagrams. They do show rubber washers on front and rear bumpers on the connections to the wings.
