Hello, my name's Steve and I'm new here. I first fell in love with Triumph Stags in the 1980s when I owned one for 3 or 4 years, a purple TV8, manual with O/D, but when we moved from Scotland to the N.E of England, money was tight and I'm afraid we had to sell it; my original Stag was KNK 574N, does anyone here know of it? Since those days, I've always kept a look out for these beautiful iconic British cars and after following one to work earlier this year, I knew I would have to re-aquaint myself with them. Cutting a very long story short, today I picked up my Stag, a very early Mk 1 (LD55BW), a red TV8 auto with a black vinyl roof; she was completely restored about 10 years ago and has been garaged ever since, being used only over the summer. Considering she is over 41 years old (a 1970, J reg), she is in very good nick, but of course she will need some TLC in order to keep her on the road. Originally I was going to garage her over the winter but on reading the advice on this forum, I have changed my mind and I now intend to drive her when the weather permits. Hence I hope you all will bear with me over the next few days, months and years as I ask lots of dumb questions in order to keep my new Stag on the road. As soon as I'm able, I'll post some pictures of the new love of my life.

Hi Steve,
Welcome to the Forum and back to Stag ownership. You've obviously got them in your blood - good for you. I did likewise with one in the early 80's that had to go because of kids, company car and money (or lack of it). Promised myself another one one day and that day came a couple of years ago - and it was well worth waiting for
. Hope you feel the same.
Ask away as much as you like on here - there aren't any dumb questions - honestly.
All the very best and lets see those pics soon.
Cheers
Julian

Hi Steve and welcome.
"I hope you all will bear with me over the next few days, months and years as I ask lots of dumb questions in order to keep my new Stag on the road. As soon as I'm able, I'll post some pictures of the new love of my life."
The only stupid question is the one that isn't asked

Thanks for the warm welcome. Sad about the old Stag; I only sold it in 1987 and I hope that it has not deceased but that it is tucked up in a garage somewhere in Scotland waiting for release. I should have mentioned what happened the first time I drove my new Stag onto my drive; a neighbour came across and exclaimed "What a beautiful car, what is it? It sounds so wonderful". I was well chuffed to explain that the car was a Triumph Stag and how I had just bought it!

Welcome back to stag ownership, more people will comment on the Stag than any modern tin box. Last week I was with a group of farmers on a study trip of dairy farms in deepest south Wales, using the Stag of course, and on arriving at the second farm the farmers wife said
"When you leave today can you get a lift with someone else and leave that here!"
