    XXX Decibels

A while back, I deccatted the Trevor (http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthr...light=manifold) and have had a hankering to make it a bit louder ever since.

Its fair to say that Mrs B is not on side with this but my after todays purchase, the TVR will now have no silencer. When this is bolted on it, a couple of cherry bombs (for back pressure or tone?) are all that will stand in the way of those DB's coming down the 3.0 inch exhaust.

    I cant wait.

PS anyone know what a cherry bomb is?

Yes its a red tube just slightly bigger than the pipe that feeds it that looks like it might be a silencer but isn't

Michael has just played the video and Lorraine has just seen it. She is even less impressed than before. I'll mention that it will save me text messages and see what she says

I read an article in the paper the other day that referred to cars being so quiet these days manufacturers may have to add in artificial exhaust sounds so that jaywalkers and lycra louts (cyclists) can hear them coming. I think you may be taking this to the extreme Graham...........

M.O.T. noise issue ? don't want to spoil your fun, but I'd hang on to the old system come testing time. Martin.

is noise part of the MOT?? not sure that it is? Looking forward to seeing the video of yours Graham

When I used to do off road racing the only noise test we had to worry about was for competition nothing at MOT time - it was OK at idle anyway!

Hi Russ, I am going tonight and will probably be in the Stag.

Regarding noise and the MOT, I dont think that its a part of the test but dont anticipate to many problems if it is. I had been toying iwth the idea of sleeving the existing silencer but not sure if I will be able to live with the noise long-term and didnt want to ruin the exisiting system.

This one was sold for being too noisy and removed from the car after a few months and he still had the massive cat in the manifold. mine is clear at the front already, and if I am really, lucky, it will spit the odd flame on overun ala Cerbera

Graham - see what Bob says in the "changes to the MOT" thread - will need to keep your standard one for MOT next year

Thanks for the warning Giles but I think it will be ok. The more detailed rules are, the easier it often is to get around them. Plus, where is the fun in doing everything g by the book?

Graham, these are "traditional" cherry bombs - now not on car, cheers Ian
