who is up for a run over the Hardknott Pass in the Lake District?

    Hi All

Last year the Hardknott Pass was discussed in the following thread

    http://www.stag.org.uk/forum/showthread.php?8097-MANCHESTER-N.CHESHIRE-AREA-RUN&highlight=hardknott

I have been up there on a few TSSC runs and the usual route includes Ulpha, Hardknott Pass and Wrynose Pass, all situated in the area between the coast at Ravenglass and Lake Windermere. At the time of the above postings I mentioned I might organise a run up there for the Stags.

So, who is interested? I can't promise you the weather but the roads are superb! Date wise I was thinking of the back half of October or early in November.

    Regards

    Bruce

Bruce - You only want to go there so you can have a ride on the Ravensglass - Eksdale railway - assuming it is still running as it is donkeys years since I was last up there.

        Hi Neil

If the run happens I am pretty sure someone would offer you a lift in their Stag.

            Hi Bruce,

Sorry I didn't make it to yours the other day. 10 1/2 hours it took eventually to get to the lakes.

I did the Wrynose and Hardknot passes the other evening. It was pouring with rain just to make things a little interesting!! I did a lovely wheelspin on one corner on the way up!

On the way back it was dark as well as raining just to add to the fun, and at one point it was so foggy on the Wrynose pass that I had to stop as I could not see where the road was!

I did the pass from Ambleside to Patterdale the other day as well but I can't remember what it is called off hand.

Well worth attempting if you are up for a challenge, not for the faint hearted though!

            Rgds

            Dave

              Hi Dave

Glad you finally made it up to the Lakes. You got to love the M6 haven't you!

I hope the weather has improved for you this week.

              Regards

              Bruce

Hi Bruce, i would be up a run over there, i have been meaning to do the hardknott pass for a while now as its not too far away from me, would be even better in a stag convoy.
let me know if you decide to go ahead.
                cheers rob

Hi Rob. I can recommend the route but be careful. Don't wait for a SOC run to happen as the near total lack of interest means it is very unlikely to be happening this year. I am now planning on taking the stag and family for a drive up the Long Mynd, south of Shrewsbury which I have just read about in the latest TSSC mag. Have fun. Bruce

                    Hi Bruce

Sorry I didn't reply to your request for volunteers. Wasn't being rude or disinterested - I've been on vacation till Sep 27, and manic at work since then, so I'm a bit behind on the Forum.

                    Cheers

                    Gord
