Wolfrace for Stag - sim or diff to Scimitar?

I regularly see adverts for Wolfrace wheels saying they will fit Stag or Scimitar. But I thought they were different!
Sure the PCD is the same. So you could take a wheel and fit it on the studs (as you can for Triumph TR -not 7- and MGB?)
But I think the offset is different, with the Scimitar having a positive offset of 0.105 inches, whereas Stag is negative.
This is handily stamped in the rim on the Scimitar wheels as “6x14 .105 out” whereas my Stag ones have “6Jx14 FHA-He [30]” (Anyone know what all that means?)

Also the look is different in that ring around the studs/nuts. On the Scimitar it’s more raised squarish, whereas on the Stag it’s dishy!!

And the offset makes a difference. One person (on a now deleted post) had fitted Scimitar wheels and said “mine felt like a different car the day after I refitted original Stag alloys”.
The Stag wheels have another number: four of mine are stamped with “MDB1 KBA” while the fifth has “MDB1 KBA 40174”.
Anyone know what that means? Have other Stag owners got the same?

KBA is the Kraftfahrt Bundesamt. It's the German government department responsible for type approvals. The number 40174 is the number of the approval certificate for the wheel. Good news really as this means that the wheel and its manufacturing processes have been very thoroughly tested with respect to quality, metallurgy, stress, salt etc.

Over here, that is the first step to getting a wheel "legal" on a car. The next step would be the handling and physical fit tests on the particular vehicle type.
    The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

      Hello Chris,

maybe the handstamped number "30" means an offset of +30 mm? Can you check perhaps?
If I know this correctly the original Stag alloys have an offset of +28. So these wheels would be a perfect fit.

      Kind regards,
      Dieter.

FHA-H is the designation of the wheel "hump". This is the cross section of the flange where the tyre sits on the rim.

e will be the Einpresstiefe (offset) strangely written as a small "e". So the dimension is not "FHA" + "He" + "30", it is "FHA-H" + "e30"

I'd never seen it written as "e". I only knew either "ET" or "e/o" (Einpresstiefe/Offset).

(now I just feel sorry for anyone googling hump + rim and ending up here!)

DSCN2943.jpgDSCN2944.jpgDSCN2946.jpgI've got Woolfies on my stag and the markings are shown in the pics. OK I know they need a clean and yes. I know a wheelnut is off. the car is on a ramp at eye level and the wheels are coming of for a bit of rear end maintenance. - Alan

Thank you Drew Thank you Dieter
                All is becoming clear!
On that hump issue, I hear it's been updated! That FHA-H is now called CH "combination hump"!

So I guess all of the proper fit for Stag would all have the same numbers as mine and Alan's. Bit of a puzzle as to what Giles has got?

Scimitar wheels do fit the stag here is mine when I bought it

                  rupertd1.jpg

however you will note the offset means the rear tyres are very close to the wheelarches. helpful PO had folded back the wheelarch lip so that the wheels / tyres would fit.

Also the wider track plays hell with wheel bearings or so I was told.

Looked beefy, didn't really fit and I sold them to a very happy man with a TVR fetish

                    A little more!
I've found out about the little numbers in circles which are also stamped into the rim.

They are date codes: one for the year (e.g. "77"); the other (a letter) is perhaps a month or probably a quarter, as only A,B,C, or D spotted so far.

Does this check with other wheel owners?
