    Fuel Pump.

So very typical of leaving the Stag untouched for only 2 weeks, went to start up today and no start, no clicking from fuel pump.

It's from a Jag and normally very good but I'll check fuse first, just bl**dy annoying!

    Jeff.

      MARTIN, YOU'RE A STAR!

Button was up after I had been mucking about with it trying to use a live feed for the header tank level switch 2 weeks ago

      Thanks mate.

Excellent, that's what the forum's best at, 'cos we've all done these things and don't mind owning up Martin.

          Jeff.

I had the same problem last weekend.

On the Saturday I had cut out the offside rear arch to fit a 3/4 repair panel. I then drove the car back into the garage but on the Sunday when i tried to start it to get it back out, no pump clicks and it won't start. Can anyone guess what I had done?

Cut through the supply wire to the pump?

absolutely correct! took me a while to work it out because I had driven the car in after doing the cutting. There is however the fuel in the float bowls. DOH!

I think Ian's up for " Numpty of the month " for that one, actually attacking the wire with an angle grinder is a hilarious idea, wish I'd thought of it ! . Martin.

Well it's actually better (worse?) than that Martin. It wasn't just the pump supply wire, it was the entire loom and in two places!!!!!

That's why I used a nibbler when I did mine.

I got rid of my nibblers with a cream the doctor prescribed, so that wasn't really an option :-)

Thanks Dave, I knew it couldn't be just me . I kind of expected a stack load of replies saying "been there done that" after all, who would route electrical wiring through the wheel arch lip area and then trap it in some tar like material so you can't actually easily see its wiring, even after the event.

The DOH moment was not realising the cutting did the damage because the car ran fine after I did it, until the next morning. I spent at least twenty minutes tapping the pump, checking the inertia switch and looking at fuses!
