It all started so well, exhausts both of them came off their manifolds no problem , drained the oil, removed the filter ,removed the oil pump split the body and removed the o ring which was broken, so thats where the leak was coming from, cleaned and fitted new o rings including the relief valve ,oil transfer housing carried out the same tasks also fitted the oil pressure gauge tee piece and pipes, new oil filter, god i should have been a mechanic this is easy, filled the car with oil, no leaks except the oil filter that kept leaking a little if its still leaking tomorrow i will have to get rough with it.
Now onto the last job then home for dinner, putting back the exhaust pipes, This wont take long they came off so easy, So then why did they not go back the same, i had not moved them anywhere other than the oil pump side, down a bit over a bit that was all , i could not get them to line up with the holes on the manifolds together, line up one the other was out and vice versa, after what must have been a pile crunching effort the middle section boxes parted company from the rear! So they were fitted well then.
At least now the front pipes went onto their manifolds BUT unbelievably all the threads on the nuts and the studs on the manifolds were stripped,( not by me ) the exhausts must have been held on with the sealing glue and barely holding nuts no wonder they came off easy.
By now i was looking for something or someone to rattle, there i was covered in crap under the stag with half an exhaust on my head .
I wired up the exhaust to keep it off the road, started the car ( yes i had primed the pump with Vaseline) 50lbs pressure on my newly fitted oil gauge so at least something works, just back off the ramps, WWWWhat NOW.. NO CLUTCH DOUBLE BOLLO.......it was here i remembered when i fitted a new slave cylinder a while back ignoring a piece of advice that Julian gave me, WHEN YOU BLEED THE CLUTCH TURN THE SLAVE OVER TO GET ALL THE AIR OUT, i had pushed the slave out of the way to clear a path for the oil pump it must have dislodged an air bubble, the trout was non to happy as i had to disturb her afternoon nap to help me bleed the clutch.
So to recap all the jobs i planned were completed IN GOOD ORDER, but now both exhaust manifolds will have to come off to have new studs fitted and i will have A noisy journey (as the stag sounds a bit like a dodge charger) to my mates garage and his ramps to have the exhaust reassembled , Happy days...Steve

As i said earlier i fitted an oil gauge after a deluge of staggers persuaded me it was the thing to do, well i like my clock on the dash so the only place free is next to the heater or same place other side of the steering wheel, so next to the heater it went and of course i cant stop looking at it now when i am driving along even though it is partially obscured by the steering wheel i still find myself ducking and craning to get a view of it, i am considering disconnecting it but leaving the gauge fitted before i rear end someone .only joking ...Steve
