Fumes in the car

Has anyone come across this? I was driving home tonight and there was a strong smell of exhaust fumes in my Stag - I mean eye wateringly obnoxiuos! Now here is the stange part, nothing on the car is different. There is no sign of an exhaust blow, boot seal is OK etc. The only difference is that I put BP petrol in this morning and haven't used it before. Any ideas??

Drove home tonight with no sign of fumes AT ALL!!! This is weird as I am certain that the boot was closed yesterday:?

Ah well, I hope all will be OK now. Next job is to get the hard top off at the weekend. Can't wait!
